A Very Happy Week (Part 1)

So you are prob wondering, how was the trip? Well here is the recap! Please note that this will be part 1 of a 2 part post.

It was a pretty amazing week as we got just about everything that we wanted/needed to get done completed. I thought that it would be a good time to share some of the details of the trip as well as photos. Please note that this post will be long and image heavy. Here we go!

Monday was a work day as we met with the real estate agent who is going to be in charge of selling my grandma's house down there. That went really well and was very pleased that I really didn't get that bored. The one downside is that our taxi driver did get us lost once we got to the complex that my grandma lived in and did give me an earful once I got out. However, I deserved it since at the hotel I got out of the car when he said that he had been near there but not at where she lived.

Tuesday was a lone day to be tourists in New Orleans. My sister had researched the Aquarium (which was basically right around the corner from our hotel) and saw they had a bird exhibit. Specifically, with parakeets which she happens to own one. For that reason, we went to the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas.

Before we went to see the birds, we explored the Aquarium for a little bit and ate lunch.

Finally it was time to feed the parakeets. We went over there and got feed sticks and then fed them. This is my sister feeding one (sorry for the lighting)

Honestly I could care less about them, but my sister was a very happy person. She had wanted to go thorough a second time, but honestly I wasn't too thrilled to do that. She was understanding surprisingly enough, but it may have been because we where able to see them once we left the Aquarium. Honestly those where the highlights of the NOLA portion as it somewhat downhill after that. Don't really want to get into the details, but we've made up and such. Hopefully the house sells somewhat quickly.

The next morning we had to get up pretty early as the train departed NOLA at a very early time. Since we where in the sleeper cars, we where told to go to a separate room where we had more comfortable seats. There was a little bit of a surprise when we got in there as there was a working dog with a couple. They weren't going as far as we where, but we did talk to them for a few minutes before it was time to go. The trip up was pretty good and admittedly it was a little weird not to get off in Wilmington (where we normally get off). Finally though Thursday afternoon we arrived in NYC. After getting our bags, we ate lunch at a pizza place (which wasn't fantastic) and then headed to our hotel. The wait for taxis wasn't terrible and we got to our hotel pretty quickly.

We freshened up and then went to explore Times Square a little bit. The biggest thing was finding somewhere to eat. We found it in the Brooklyn Diner, but despite having the word diner in it's name it was more like a casual restaurant. Although it did have diner food on there. I got the spaghetti and meatballs which was yummy!

We also went to the Disney Store and sat in Duffy Square (near the famous Tickets Booth) until it got too cold.

Tomorrow I will have our final two days, and trust me they where jammed pack!
