2015 Cruise Recap (Part One)

Hey guys! So I have a ton of pictures to share with you along with how the cruise went. For that reason this post will be image heavy and long as I'm break it up into multiple sections like I did for NOLA and Rhinebeck. Thankfully though, there won't be any delays as Part 2 will be tomorrow. So here we go!

We actually left Delaware on Thursday since it does take overnight via train to get to Orlando. Funny thing is that we actually ended up at the other end of the platform from where we supposed to go. Thankfully the Red Cap who we knew was able to tell them to hold the train for us and we rushed down to the correct side of the platform where we needed to go. Our room attendants weren't the best, but not going to complain about it too much.

We get to Pop Century and the guy who helped us with our bags actually had remembered us from our June trip. We then went to Disney Springs (formally Downtown Disney) and spent a few hours there before heading back to our room where we had to get up early the next morning so I could put the tags on for the porters to take to the ship.

After meeting the Disney Cruise rep, we had to wait a little longer to get on the bus to take us to Port Canaveral which is about an hour and 15 minutes away from the resort. Getting through security was easy, as was check in. Finally after muster, we had a little time to explore the ship (Disney Fantasy) before dinner. These two pictures where taken at the Sail Away Party (sorry for the lighting).

Our servers where from Brazil and Turkey. The food was pretty good throughout the cruise, but not that spectacular IMO.

Sunday was a sea day and we went to play Bingo, didn't win anything however my mom did get picked to make sure all the numbers where in the machine. That made my sister and I a little bit embarrassed. I had a fit about wearing a dress (would have preferred to wear a shirt and skirt instead as I feel more comfortable in it), so I didn't go to dinner that night.

Monday was one of our two port of calls (other then the private island), Cozumel, Mexico. We had an excursion for a cooking class that I was really looking forward to. We got to our meet up place a little bit early, so we had a few minutes to ourselves. Finally it was time to check in, there where actually multiple groups at the same meet up, so we had to wear different stickers. For our group it was Chip and Dale (for the record I LOVE Chip and Dale more then Anna and Elsa, because they quarrel more like Miriam and myself and also I grew up watching Rescue Rangers).

However, once we made it down to the gangway... it was closed. Way? Because a Norwegian Cruise Line boat who wasn't expected until later got to the port early. For safety reasons our gangway was closed until they could pull into the port. The good news for us is that we had a tour guide and our excursion wasn't canceled. However, it did hear a few where because it would take too much time. Lets just say that one woman was not happy about it. To keep us occupied, one of the crew members tried to sing songs, but honestly no one was really interested in it.

Finally we where able to get off the ship and on our way to the Playa Mia Water Park and Beach. There where 3 sets of couples who where taking the class with mom, Mi and myself. They all went in a van while we waited for a sudan. Admittedly, I was a little bit nervous getting into the taxi, because taxis in the US can be a little crazy at times (I have sat in the front of a NYC taxi and while he was a careful driver, others weren't so much). However, my guess is the taxis who are near the port are taught to be very careful. Along the way, we looked at the signs and some, but not all where in both English and Spanish. Yes, they used km instead of mi, which of course for me was a tiny bit of a concern, but not much. Finally we arrived and a had a little bit of time to hang out at the beach.

It was then time for our cooking class. We had a great time making a 3 course meal with others from our ship, plus those from the Norwegian who delayed us. We made desert first which was plantains with a chocolate sauce, then our main dish which was grouper with a tamarin sauce (my favorite dish!) and finally our appetizer which was shrimp in a bowl made from the dough that tortillas are made from. We got pictures with Luis (our chef who taught us) and of the class for which I hope to share soon (for some reason the download link is gone, so I'm hoping they are able to retrieve the pictures :().

After eating, we had to head straight back to the ship. One of the couples who took the class with us where kind enough to let us follow them back to the ship. Once we got back on, we had a little time to relax. I went to a deck party, and took a few pictures of some of the characters (well Chip and Dale that is).

And a few pictures of Cozumel itself.

Finally it was time to say Adios to Mexico and head to our next Port of Call, George Town, Grand Cayman Island.

Tomorrow will the rest of the trip!
